"I LOVE HERE"

SUMMER 2010 |  LIVERPOOL GARSTON

I spotted the graffiti on this battered building and it got me thinking. 'I LOVE HERE'. I thought it was such a beautiful sentiment. For me its strength was in the 'I', if it read 'we love here' it would have seemed more about community, politics, regeneration, with 'we' suggesting a muttered group motto, repeated and repeated losing it's bite. BUT, with 'I' it's a solo act, unaccompanied, it stays fresh, sinks it's teeth into you, continuing to chew away. Your left feeling like they really mean it, they are in love and heartbroken.
